Over 120 exhibitors have registered to participate at this year’s provincial agricultural show scheduled from October 13-16 in Bindura.
Some farmers from here have already participated at the recently held Harare Agricultural Show following a selection process at their fields and districts by the Agricultural Research Extension (AREX).
Mashonaland Central Agricultural Show Society manager Mr Robson Madongo said apart from exhibitions, they have created an environment for farmers to learn and share experiences.
They have invited Mr Simon Nyanhete, the managing director of Agriseeds as the guest of honor to share his expertise in the agriculture sector.
Running under the theme, “Enhanced Agriculture Productivity, the Driving Force to Economic Development,” the official opening will be on October 15.
“This has been a difficult year due to Covid-19 despite a dumper harvest. Apart from competing, it is a platform for farmers to view new equipment and technologies to improve their farming,” said Mr Madongo.
“We have received overwhelming support from the informal sector. Some of them are exhibiting under their parent ministry. We also welcome individual exhibitors and the Deeds Office will be available to teach them on how to formalise their operations.”
Among exhibitors are FSG fertiliser company, Freda Rebecca, Government departments, companies in agro-engineering and seed houses.
“We are encouraging exhibitors and participants to get vaccinated. We will allow at least one jab. The Ministry of Health and Child Care will be available to offer testing and vaccination,” he said.
“We have engaged farmers’ associations to spread the news so that we get as many people as possible. The show is not about winning.”
