Different artistes including Alick Macheso, Mathias Mhere, Diana Samkange, Culture Spears from Botswana, Rute Mbangwa, poets and stand-up comedians are expected to team up for a mega-festival to be held in Bindura next month.
The three-day Bindura Arts Festival will run under the theme “Celebrating the diversity and richness of Zimbabwean arts and culture.”
The fourth edition of the festival will this year run for four days (March 27 to 30) with 25 musicians from different genres, including sungura, dancehall and jazz taking part.
In an interview the festival’s events manager, Master Nakappa said they had lined up a variety of activities this year. “On the first day we will have workshops with professionals from different sectors including poetry, theatre, music and dance to mentor young talent,” he said.
He said though they are still in the process of engaging different artistes some have already confirmed their participation.
“We have engaged musicians such as Killer T, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Guspy Warrior and Freeman, among others, to perform on our dancehall night which will be held at Tendai Hall.
“The second day, which is our biggest day, will have our main acts Culture Spears from Botswana, Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu,
Gary Tight, Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Munya Matarutse and many others at Chipadze Stadium.”
Sabhuku Vharazipi will also take to the stage on the same day.
“We will close down with ‘Women in Jazz’ featuring Edith WeUtonga, Pah Chihera, Selmor Mtukudzi, Rute Mbangwa among others.”
The festival runs with sponsorship from different corporates including the Ashanti Gold Mine and Coach House Inn.
