The fourth edition of the Bindura Arts Festival has been postponed to April, organisers have said. One of the organisers Amutali Saidi said they were still waiting for funding from sponsors.
“We have not yet secured enough funds for the event because some organisations that used to fund us have not yet done so, while others have indicated that they have no money,” he said.
The Festival will run under the theme “Celebrating the diversity and richness of Zimbabwean arts and culture”.
The fourth edition of the festival will run for four days from March 27 to 30, with 25 musicians from different genres, including sungura, dancehall and jazz participating.
Recently, the festival’s events manager, Master Nakappa, said they had lined up a variety of activities this year. “On the first day we will have workshops with professionals from different sectors including poetry, theatre, music and dance to mentor young talent,” he said. Nakappa said they were still in the process of engaging other artistes.
“We have engaged musicians such as Killer T, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Guspy Warrior and Freeman, among others, to perform on our dancehall night which will be held at Tendai Hall. “The second day, which is our biggest day, will have our main acts Culture Spears from Botswana, Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Gary Tight, Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Munya Mataruse and many others at Chipadze Stadium as well as Sabhuku Vharazipi.
“We will close down with ‘Women in Jazz’ featuring Edith WeUtonga, Pah Chihera, Selmor Mtukudzi, Rute Mbangwa among others,” he said.
