Bindura man fatally assaulted

A 60-year-old man from Foothills Farm Compound in Bindura, Ineki Paulosi, was yesterday fatally assaulted during an altercation.

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha confirmed the incident that occurred around 8pm.

He said 30-year-old Innocent Washafi has since been arrested over the issue.

Sergeant Major Chikasha said Paulosi was at Clifford Makuvire’s tuckshop with his girlfriend when Washafi approached them.

Paulosi asked Washafi if he recalled threatening to evict him from the compound after labelling him a rogue artisanal miner.

Washafi charged towards Paulosi and grabbed him by the collar.

He assaulted Paulosi with open hands until he fell on his back and became unconscious.

Paulosi was rushed to Bindura Hospital, where he died upon arrival.

Sergeant Major Chikasha urged people to solve their differences amicably.
