Bindura plans Youth Games blitz

campaign in Bindura this Saturday and there will be a number of athletes in attendance.
During the campaign, fliers with practical information on the Youth Games will be distributed to people to enlighten them about the Games.

“We have finalised everything and during our visit to the venues we got a positive response from most of the local chiefs and the community.
“The date for the Games has finally been set and all is in place for the 10th edition of the event which has been scheduled for August 4-11 at various venues in Bindura and our marketing team will host an educative music extravaganza that we will give an opportunity to many to understand want the Games are all about.

“We are very happy that we have two months to go before the big event and everything is running accordingly,”Kasukuwere said.
Various popular local musicians have been engaged to provide entertainment thereby giving more support to the youths.
Superstar Oliver M’tukudzi and Sulumani Chimbetu are among some of the popular local musicians who have confirmed their participation for the music extravaganza show on June 9.

Models from Bindura University are also part of the entertainment.
The organisers believe that the event should have special outcomes compared to previous editions.
“We want the Games to be the best since we are celebrating our 10th anniversary. The Games are important and we want them to be memorable to the youths.

“We are confident that this will bring a positive attitude towards the Games among the youths in the future.
“We have a budget of  US$2 million for the Games and all will be well,” Kasukuwere said.
This year’s Youth Games will be held at various venues in Bindura with tennis for both men and women going to be played at Barwich while boxing will be at Tendai Hall.

Athletics and soccer for both boys and girls will be held at Chipadze and Trojan grounds, while Shamva will host netball and volleyball games.
Bradley High School will host basketball while Mt Darwin will also host part of the netball games. Handball will also be held and Brandley and Howard.
