A 21-year-old man from the Manhenga area in Bindura rural has appeared in court after fatally striking a fellow tout (name not given) with a brick while fighting over a passenger.

Phillip Kudzanai Tekesa of Manhenga medium suburb appeared before provincial magistrate Mr Tinashe Ndokera, facing murder charges.

He was remanded in custody to September 4. Prosecutor Miss Victoria Choga told the court that on August 16 of this year, at around 8 pm, the deceased was touting for passengers at Gains wholesale close to Trojan turn-off.

Tekesa approached him and ordered him to stop loading the vehicle because it used to ply the Bindura-Shamva route.

The deceased resisted and a misunderstanding ensued. Tekesa picked up a common brick and struck the now deceased once on the head.

He sustained a deep cut on the head and bled profusely. He was rushed to Bindura Hospital where he was admitted and died the following day.
