The competition, which was held in Harare last week, saw nine tertiary institutions participating in the event.
These included Africa University, Chinhoyi University of Technology, Catholic University in Zimbabwe, Harare Institute of Technology, Midlands State University, National University of Science and Technology, University of Zimbabwe and Women’s University in Africa.
Bindura University of Science Education walked away with an HP laptop, a Canon digital camera and an HP Office Jet 4500 printer.
The first runner-up was Chinhoyi University of Technology who walked away with an HP laptop and a Canon digital camera.
The second runner-up was Africa University who won an HP laptop. The theme for the competition was “Ethics and the Cyberspace” and to this extent there was a special thematic award for the team which had the most outstanding information technology- based intervention, which was won by Africa University.
In his keynote address at the event, Delta director for corporate affairs Mr George Mutendadzamera urged the students to adopt ethical fundamentals in the implementation of their business models.
He attributed the recent global financial crises to unethical practices by some of the world’s corporate leaders and stressed that if the society is going to be a better place then individuals need to be more ethical in their behaviours.
