AN explosive encounter is on the cards at Chipadze this afternoon when the revived Bindura United host Twalumba in a Zifa Northern Region Division One League match.
Bindura United were revived this season and their creation has resulted in a spike in expectations in a town that still remembers the way Mwana Africa rocked their world with their Premiership campaign.
The residents of Bindura have always supported their local football teams and Bindura United will be hoping that such support can drive them to scale dizzy heights.
Bindura United turned into a defunct franchise when Harare businessman Solomon Mugavazi bought the team and renamed it Monomotapa.
But the residents of the town have always longed for their Bindura United and their dreams came true this year when a businessman in the town decided to create another “BU”.
Twalumba are one of the seasoned campaigners in the league and could be one of the teams to fight for the league title this season.
The Zifa Central Region Division One soccer league will resume for the 2014 season tomorrow with 14 teams competing for the sole ticket into the Premiership next year.
The region delayed its kick-off as teams took time to affiliate but now it’s all is systems go with several clubs set to meet in the opening fixtures from tomorrow.
