Birth certificate at centre of mom-son row

A 46-YEAR-OLD Kuwadzana man says he insults his mother because she does not want to assist him get a birth certificate.

Lesley Ngwenya was dragged to court by his mother, Catherine Ngwenya, seeking a protection order.

Presiding magistrate, Tamara Chibindi, granted the protection order and told Lesley not to insult, threaten, harass or intimidate his mother.

Catherine said she could no longer bear the insults from her son, saying Lesley was making her life miserable.

“He insults me as if I am not his mother. I am  living in fear of my son.

“He is claiming that it’s his late father’s house, but I don’t remember him helping me with the building materials.

“He is 46-years-old, he has married several times haatogone kugara nevakadzi akutoona ini semukadzi wake,” said Catherine.

In response, Lesley did not dispute his mother’s testimony.

“Your Worship, I do not have a problem if you grant my mother’s application, but I need her assistance so that I can get a birth certificate.

“I will stop  insulting her only after she assists me,” said Lesley.

However, Lesley’s mother told the court that she was not aware that her son needed her assistance.
