Bishop performs tongue-to-tongue anointing ritual on male congregant in trending video

A viral video of a Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church bishop in Southwest Nigeria performing an unusual ordination ritual has sparked widespread outrage and debate among Christians.

The act, involving a tongue-to-tongue anointing, has been heavily criticized, with many questioning its biblical basis and labelling it misleading.

The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has swiftly distanced itself from the bishop, stating that neither he nor the individuals in the video are affiliated with their organization.

The church leadership condemned the act as “horrific” and “despicable before God and man,” emphasizing that true members of the Unification Church are recognized by official leadership, not just by wearing white garments.

The controversy has fuelled renewed discussions about unconventional religious practices and the growing need for stricter regulation of churches in Nigeria to prevent misleading doctrines.

While some argue that different denominations have unique traditions that should be respected, others insist that such acts contradict Christian teachings and could misguide believers. (afrogazette.co.zw)
