Biya and Friends Academy gives back to the community

BIYA and Friends Academy have decided to give back to the community by donating goodies to Entembeni Old People’s Home in Luveve.

The Chairman of Biya as Friends academy Sikelelo Ndiweni as well as his entire executive plus players were part of the delegation who paid the elderly a courtesy call at their home.

According to Ndiweni, the donation was bought using the prize money the team won from the Zifa Bulawayo Cup final where they lost to Bulawayo City 2-1 recently.

“There is a Ndebele saying which says ‘Inyoni itshayelwa abadala’, (literally meaning whatever you get during your hunting expedition never forget your elders), we therefore decided that part of the proceeds from what we got be donated to the elderly since they look upon us for their upkeep on a day-to-day basis.

At the same time as a team based in Luveve the majority of players come from the suburb hence we saw it as part of our community social responsibility to donate to this home,’’ he said.

One of the elderly people at the home Amen Dube said he was grateful for the goods donated while pleading with the community not to forget them.

“We are very happy to be beneficiaries of such a noble idea, at the same time let me use this opportunity to ask for more help from the outside world since we are no longer active hence we rely on donations,” said Dube.
