Mine’s goalkeeper, Victor Twaliki. The Black Mambas forward returned to haunt the asbestos miners with another heder, this time just on teh stroke of half time as he took advantage of the confusion inside the box after a well taken corner by Paidamoyo Madziro to beat Twaliki for the second time on the afternoon.
Once Nyoni’s goals had thrust them into the driving seat Black Mambas did not take their feet of the pedal and dominated the game against a Shabanie side that was struggling to create meaningful chances.
Shabanie have always struggled on their trips to Mambas and it was a similar tale again at Morris Depot yesterday. The hosts could have surged ahead in the 13th minute when Convenience Hungwe made an attempt at goal from just outside the box but Twaliki was equal to the task.
Shabanie also had a chacne to pull one back in the 54th minute through Mulungisi Ndlovu’s effort but it just went wide.
Black Mambas assistant coach Martin Bonyongwe was a happy to see his team bounce back ti winning ways after suffering two successive defeats before the two-week international break. “Firstly I think it was a welcome victory, our last two games we had lost to Highlanders and Chicken Inn. We were not necessarily under pressure, we still have a target of reaching 20 points by the halfway mark. I think we are on course and concerning today’s match I think the key to our victory was the fact that we managed to take charge of the midfield,” said Bonyongwe.
Luke Masomere conceded defeat and said they are now preparing for their next match, “I personally think it wasn’t our day, Mambas played well and they deserved a win though we also had a good fight but it wasn’t our day today.”
