BLACK Mambas will today rebrand and take a new name ahead of the 2014 Northern Region Division One season which gets underway tomorrow. The police outfit, which was relegated from the Premiership last season, will now represent its sponsors the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s interests in its colours and badges as well as the name.

The club has already sent their request to the Northern Region Division One and the issue is set to be finalised today.

“Since the team is wholly sponsored by the Police, the club’s executive has since decided to use a name that goes along with the sponsors,” sources told The Herald.

“Warumwa Warumwa, as Mambas was affectionately known, is a police team which is supported by the national Police Office it should show what it stands for as it represents the Police unlike others who represent provinces.

“This was a long process which took time to complete but we will be there tomorrow afternoon.”

Mambas are expected to start their campaign tomorrow against Flame Lilly at Chikurubi.
