The team’s coach, Arthur Tutani, yesterday said his side was ready for the match although they could not find enough time to rest and recharge their batteries.
“We are prepared for Shabanie even after playing on Saturday. We were supposed to rest on Sunday and Monday but we are travelling again today (yesterday). Black Rhinos are currently 13th on the log table with nine points from 10 starts, which points a gloomy picture for the Premiership returnees.
Rhinos have exciting players like Marshal Mudehwe, Lot Chiunga and Martin Mine with Lazurus Muhoni, Brighton Chandisaita and Britto Gwere weighing in with the needed experience.
Tutani said they are not expecting an easy game from the hosts who are also reeling at the bottom of the table with eight points from 10 starts.
“Shabanie are playing very well especially after the return of their coach from the Asiagate bans. Nonetheless we are ready for them and we are going to beat them,” said Tutani.
Shabanie, who are currently under the spotlight for the violence caused by their supporters in their last home game against Harare City, yesterday sent an appeal to their fans to behave in a good manner.
We are appealing to the fans not to throw anything to the pitch if the officials make questionable decisions.
“They are human and we must understand that and the best thing is cheering the team even we are down and we will come right. We must refrain from violence.
Shabanie travelled to Harare on Saturday and did not even have the time to rest or warm-up resulting in the team conceding two goals in a space of 35 minutes. Shabanie is not financially sound and Samson “Dread” Gondwe has been assisting the club in buying and paying some of the players.
Fans have been calling for the executive to swallow their pride and bury the hatchet with Obed Dube and his wife Nancy whose company, Vadette Trading, was sponsoring the team last season. “We are appealing to Vadette to reconsider their move and come and save our team which is now in the relegation zone,” said Pedzisayi Msindo, a Shabanie Mine fan.
