BLACK Rhinos remained hanging in the Castle Lager Premiership and their fate will now be determined in the last round after Lot Chiwunga struck a priceless goal at Rimuka yesterday. Needing nothing short of three points, to keep their fight alive, Rhinos did just that and will now aim to beat relegated Monomotapa in their last match and pray that Buffaloes, Black Mambas, Hwange or Triangle do not gain a point.
Chiwunga got to the end of a pass from veteran striker Phillip Marufu, who raced into the box on the right flank before releasing a low ball, which the Zimbabwe international forward drilled past Hwange goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya in the 54th minute.
Rhinos coach, Arthur Tutani, said the big battle was still on and he remained confident his men will survive the chop.
“We have won but we are not yet safe from relegation. I think we have to soldier on until the last game of the season. Maybe we could have been in a better position by now if we had not drawn a number of matches at home but this win came as a relief,” said Tutani.
Hwange host Motor Action in their last match and they are favoured to win against the relegated Mighty Bulls.
Chipangano coach Nation Dube said they will not lose a lot of sleep.
“Of course we are not happy to lose the game since we needed the three points but I am certain that Hwange will remain in the Premiership despite the defeat.
“Our hopes lie in beating Motor Action in the last match,” said Dube.
