ARMY side Black Rhinos this afternoon unveiled their 2021 squad along with an elegant kit amid high expectations the team will win silverware this Premiership football season.

The season opens this weekend with the Chibuku Super Cup and Rhinos are in the same pool with Manica Diamonds, Cranborne Bullets and Tenax which will be battling for the top-two quarter-final places at Sakubva.

And Rhinos have partnered with two corporates, Fossil Agro and Moonlight Funeral Services, who have come together to donate the team’s playing kits for this season.

Both companies have pledged to support the team throughout the season.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Ephias Mahachi, the Brigadier General in charge of training in the Zimbabwe National Army, challenged the team to aim higher this season.

“The club was able to compete in the player transfer market in order to bolster its competitive edge, thus today we stand proud to have a team that is ready to compete,” said Mahachi.

“I urge you to be inspired by the yesteryear generation of the likes of Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa, Japhet “Short Cat” Mparutsa, Gift “Shaft” Makoni and Maronga “The Bomber” Nyangela to mention just a few of the great names that played and brought glory to our team.

“I want us to remain reminded that Black Rhinos is the flagship of the ZNA, which calls upon you to be guided by discipline demanded of you not only by observing virtues of the game but above all as ambassadors of our national ground force, the ZNA.”

Rhinos have added several new faces to their squad with the former Dynamos trio of Tawanda Macheke, Kudzanai Dhemere and Tawanda Chisi coming to join their former teammate Blessing Mwandimutsira.

Bruce Homora remains the captain of the ship while some of the players who the team has retained include Allan Gahadzikwa, Vincent Mhungu and Farai Banda.
