CALEDONIA Mining Corporation-owned Blanket Mine is today handing over several community development projects to the Sitezi Community in Gwanda, implemented under its corporate social responsibility strategy.

The projects, carried out in Ward 8 of the Wenlock Communal area, include the construction and equipping of a state-of-the-art waiting mother’s shelter at Sitezi Clinic, installation of a 48KVA solar plant, establishment of a computer laboratory at Sitezi Secondary School with a donation of 50 computers, creation of a science laboratory, refurbishment of the school, and installation of interactive screens in all classrooms to enhance learning.

The waiting mother’s shelter at Sitezi Clinic features modern bathrooms and toilets, and the facility has been equipped with beds and linen. Sitezi Secondary School has also received new furniture, significantly improving learning conditions for students.

The rollout of these projects began in 2022 and has also provided safe, potable water to Sitezi Clinic, Sitezi Secondary School, and Sitezi Primary School.

Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Albert Nguluvhe, is officiating at the handover event.

Over the years, Caledonia, through Blanket Mine, has invested more than US$10 million in projects aimed at improving health, education, agriculture, and livelihoods across Matabeleland South.
