THREE Nkulumane men who allegedly crept through the night like petty phantoms to loot a house of blankets, a cellphone and US$50 have landed behind bars.

Hlophani Siziba (35), Unity Moreleni (38) and Prince Chinhomba (35) appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga facing unlawful entry and theft charges.

Siziba folded under pressure and pleaded guilty, while his co-accused played the innocent card. All three were remanded in custody till Friday.

Prosecutor Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court that just before midnight on 21 July, the trio allegedly tiptoed to Thandolwenkosi Ncube’s home, smashed her bedroom window and helped themselves to a Samsung Galaxy A2 Core, a comforter blanket and cash.

“The complainant was awakened by the noise when the accused broke her window. Upon investigating, she realised her belongings were missing,” said Kufandikanwe.

Police swiftly arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen blanket and phone. The US$50, however, was gone with the night wind.
