A HARARE man has been arrested on allegations of stealing a bag with blankets, clothes and US$500 cash.

Nyasha Mapirango (42) appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda charged with robbery.

He will be back in court tomorrow for bail application.

The State said on the night of August 8, Nyasha was hiding in Zinyengere graveyard in Epworth, where he snatched the complainant’s bag.

Nyasha brandished a knife to scare the complainant (name not given).

The complaint said the stolen bag contained US$500 and other belongings, which included blankets and clothes.

The State noted there is evidence linking Nyasha to the crime since the police found the stolen bag at his place of residence.

There are also three women who claimed to have seen him running away with the stolen loot, the court heard.

A police report was lodged leading to Nyasha’s arrest.

Anesu Chirenje appeared for the State.
