AWARD-WINNING gospel artiste, Blessing Shumba, is ready to roar with another new offering, barely two months after his latest release.
In an interview on Tuesday, the Holy Psalms Band frontman said he is putting some final touches to the song, “Mashura Chaiwo,” which is set for release at the end of this week.
The highly anticipated track comes hot on the heels of “Tenda,” which was released mid-April, and is already enjoying generous airplay on various platforms.
“We are working on our latest song titled ‘Mashura Chaiwo,’ and it is almost ready. Our fans can expect its release at the end of this week. It is one of the many new songs we have lined up for release this year, and this is our second offering in 2025 after ‘Tenda,’ which came out in April,” said the velvet-voiced singer.
Shumba said the theme for “Mashura Chaiwo” revolves around the need for Christians to remain prepared for Christ’s second coming.
“Jesus is coming back to earth after His ascension to heaven. We must all be ready for the second coming of the Messiah. Already, we are living in an age whose signs of the times are showing that we have deviated from the righteous path. As Christians, we must live according to the Lord’s ways.
“Through music with a message, the Holy Psalms Band will continue preaching the Good News of God’s grace and salvation in order to prepare for His Son’s second coming”, said the serial hit-maker.
He also explained the message behind his previous release — “Tenda ,“ which he described as a rallying call for believers to keep faith in Christ.
“Mashura Chaiwo” and its predecessor, therefore, neatly dovetail and complement each other. ‘Tenda’ draws its message from the scriptures.
“As the title suggests, the song urges believers to stay steadfast in their faith in Christ. Faith is a cornerstone of Christian belief. The Lord is a God of all situations, and all things are possible through Him. He is able at all times and He strengths us as He prevails over all situations. When we believe, God can change every condition, and our hearts must always brim with joy and gratitude in the full knowledge that he is omnipotent. Nothing is impossible in His name. We must stay in prayer and keep the faith,” said Shumba, quoting various verses from the Bible to buttress the message.
The “Chimwe Nechimwe” hit-maker revealed that he will be concentrating on churning out more videos for both his new and old songs.
No new album will be released by the band this year, he added.
Shumba said new single tracks will be the staple offering for the remainder of 2025.
“While we will continue creating new music, we are doing more of visuals in 2025. Work on the video for ‘Tenda’ is nearing completion and our followers can also look forward to the visuals for ‘Chinoshamisa’ lifted off our album ‘Christos’ released in 2024. We are also geared to release several singles throughout this year. We already have one out, another is on the way and more are coming. Although we have enough songs to make up albums, we have deliberately decided to release them as single tracks,” he said.
Prominent for his soul-nourishing music, Shumba has continued to hold his own in the game over the years.
His song Chinoshamisa was voted by fans into position eight on the popular Radio Zimbabwe 2024 Top 50 end-of-year music chart show.
Shumba has a dozen studio albums under his belt and plenty of chart-topping singles.
