SOME Kambuzuma Section 5 residents say a blocked drain has made their lives a living hell during the rainy season for the past 10 years.
One of the residents, Kingsley Njanji, said they have made numerous reports to Harare City Council, but nothing has been done.
He said whenever it rains their yards are flooded and they have to place sandbags at their doors to prevent water flooding their homes.
“Dai tabatsirikana because we cannot go anywhere this Christmas leaving our houses to flood.
“Three days ago, when it started raining, all the water from the road flowed into my yard due to the blocked drain.
“We reported the issue to our councillor and he came with council workers to assess the issue, but up to now nothing has been done,” said Kingsley.
He urged council to urgently attend to the blocked drain before a disaster occurs.
“We are appealing to the Council to come and unblock the drain before it’s too late. We cannot risk losing our homes and possessions because of their negligence.”
The issue of blocked drains is a common problem in many suburbs around Harare, with some areas experiencing recurring floods during the rainy season.
