ZIMBABWE’S women’s cricket team has been dealt a major blow after rising star Kelis Ndhlovu was slapped with a suspension from bowling in international cricket.
The 19-year-old left-arm spinner was reported by match officials during the first ODI against Ireland in Belfast on 26 July, with concerns raised over the legality of her action.
An independent assessment conducted in Pretoria has since confirmed that Ndhlovu uses an illegal bowling action.
According to ICC regulations, the suspension is immediate and will remain in place until she undergoes a re-assessment and proves that she can bowl with a legal action.
It’s a bitter setback for the teenager, who has been one of the brightest prospects in the Lady Chevrons setup.
