The trading session was fairly active with some well structured deals in Delta Corp and Edgars being recorded. The turnover stood at US$1 million. Delta and Edgars traded 253 000 shares and 514 000 shares respectively.
Week on week, the industrial index was up 1,1 percent while the mining index lost 1,27 percent.
Weekly turnover was US$14 million.
The stock market opened the week firmer with the mainstream industrial index gaining 1,42 percent to 184,56 points led by a US50c gain in Econet Wireless.
Turnover closed at US$2,5 million with heavyweights Delta, Econet, Edgars and Innscor carrying the day on the bourse.
The mining index was, however, unchanged.
Gains were extended on Tuesday in a very active trading session with some well structured deals in CBZH, Delta, Econet and OK Zim. The turnover was solid at US$4,8 million.
The market tumbled on Wednesday after the industrial index lost 0,11 percent to 184,54 points while a US0,10c gain in Bindura lifted the mining index.
CBZH, Delta and Econet traded some very decent volumes. Turnover was US$3,5 million.
Stocks extended the previous session’s losses. Blue chips dominated the trading session with decent volumes recorded in Dairibord, Delta and Econet.
The turnover came in at US$2,5 million. The industrial index was down 0,37 percent.
On Friday, Econet recovered after gaining US10,01c to US610.01c.
The company announced last week that its board of directors has approved a 10 for one split of the company’s shares to make the stock affordable to small investors.
At the last closing price of US$6,10 per share, small investors, if approved, will spend US61c to buy one Econet share.
Econet‘s board decision followed a study by the company which showed that its shares were now too expensive such that only foreigner investors were buying.
It said the level of foreign ownership in the company has shot up from 10 percent at its listing in 1998, to more than 30 percent.
National Foods rose US1c to US142c and DZLH was up US0,63c to US26,05c. Old Mutual and Powerspeed gained US0,50c each to US185c and US2c respectively.
FBCH was US0,46c firmer at 8,45c. The company announced last Friday that it had terminated negotiations with a third party involving the restructuring of the group.
