MUTARE Board and Paper Mills are once again the men’s champions of the Ingwebu Tug-of-War Championships, while Glow Petroleum A lifted the women’s title following an exciting finals day at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair arena on Saturday afternoon.

The men’s champions produced a dominant performance in the final, showing strength and coordination as they powered to a convincing three-point victory over Correctional Lions B. In the women’s division, Glow Petroleum A also asserted their authority, securing a three-point win over their counterparts, Glow B.

Both finals lived up to expectations, with teams displaying grit, teamwork and endurance in front of an enthusiastic crowd that gathered to witness one of the ZITF’s most engaging sporting events.

This year’s competition marked a notable shift in sponsorship, with Gold Star taking over from long-time backers Ingwebu Breweries, who had traditionally supported the tournament.

Despite the change, the event retained its competitive edge and wide appeal, attracting a strong field of participants. A total of 25 men’s teams and 26 women’s teams took part, underlining the growing popularity of tug-of-war as a crowd-pulling discipline at the trade fair.

The championships once again highlighted the spirit of unity and competition that defines ZITF, while providing a platform for both corporate and social teams to showcase their strength and teamwork.

With another successful edition concluded, the tug-of-war contest continues to be a key feature on the ZITF sporting calendar, blending entertainment with healthy competition.
