THE body of a man who is yet to be identified was found floating in the Zambezi River on Thursday.

Police in Victoria Falls are appealing to people missing their relatives to come and identify the body which was found in the river’s Gorge Number 11.

Officer Commanding Victoria Falls District, Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona confirmed the case.

“I can confirm that a body of a male adult was found along the Zambezi River on the common border with Zambia. We’re still carrying out investigations to establish his identity and possible cause of death,” said Chief Supt Chiwona.

He said police had since engaged their counterparts in Zambia to assist.

The body was taken to Victoria Falls District Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man from the same town has been reported missing after he was last seen on Friday last week.

Chief Supt Chiwona said the body they recovered in the river did not match the description of the missing man, who has been identified as Mr Jameson Tshuma.—@nonsy_m
