ONE of the leading fitness centres in Bulawayo, Body Works Gym are looking to expand their empire by opening a new training facility in Belmont.

Body Works Gym will be opening another fitness facility at what was formerly Core Fitness along Plumtree and Colchester Road in Belmont. Nathan Greenland, the United Kingdom based managing director of Body Works has been in the country since the end of last year looking for space to expand his business. Greenland said the Belmont gym should be opening during the first week of February.

“We are opening a new gym in Belmont, at what used to be Core Fitness. There was a bit of work that needed to be done there but it’s all sorted. We have put in a new studio for aerobics classes,’’ Greenland said.

He said it has always been his desire to spread wings since opening their first gym at Parkade Centre in 2014. Greenland’s desire is to open more training facilities in other cities in Zimbabwe.

“We are hoping to open branches in Gweru, Kwekwe, Kadoma and one day in the capital,’’ he said.

Since the business is expanding, Body Works are in the hunt for two experienced trainers to join their team which already has Simon Gama, Sinini Nxumalo, Harold “Rock” Nhanchi, Durrell Hamilton and Itai Kapini. Greenland indicated that they were looking for people with the necessary experience and that those interested should come in person to their Parkade Centre gym.

Since opening doors in 2014, Body Works Gym have made a name with a number of athletes who train at the facility holding national as well as provincial bodybuilding titles. Some of them are Shantel Greenland, Lovemore Munyamana, Pardon Dube, Selina Manuel and Paul Goredema. Shantel Greenland, Munyamana, Goredema and Manuel have also represented at the country at the biggest multisport show in the African continent, Arnold Classic Africa which takes place every May at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Premier Soccer League teams, Highlanders and Bulawayo City train at Body Works Gym.
