The National Federation of Zimbabwe Body Building and Fitness will hold Iron Nutrition Novice Zimbabwe at the end of this month at Zimbabwe College of Music to scout for new athletes and judges.
Spokesperson for the Federation Quiet Shangai said the event was meant to unearth new talent for the big stage.
Shangai said as a result only athletes who have never participated in a professional Mr Novice and Miss Novice would be allowed to participate.
“The show is meant for athletes who have only participated in district or provincial shows and have never participated in a professional Mr Novice and Ms Novice,” said Shangai.
He added: “Aspiring judges will also have a chance to officiate some of the events after which they would be evaluated and those who would have shown potential will be recruited for training to become professional judges.”
According to Shangai they want a number of potential athletes to attend hence they pegged the registration fee at five dollars.
“We are inviting as many people as possible to come that is why we have pegged the registration fee at RTGS$5.As such we are inviting aspiring athletes from across the country to come,”he said.
According to Shangai categories will include senior men bodybuilding open, junior men under 23 years, men’s physique open, men’s fitness, women’s fitness development and wheelchair men bodybuilding.
He said they would introduce new categories.
“In a bid to cater for a wider interest for the first time in our scouting for talent we will introduce men’s fitness model and women’s fitness model,” he said. He paid tribute to sponsors for bankrolling the event.
“We would like to thank our sponsors for supporting us financially,” said Shangai.
