WHAT do you do when your pregnant ex-lover wants to abort your baby?
A jilted Bulawayo man Benjamin Chagwiza in a fit of pique and revenge, decided to expose his estranged and pregnant lover for planning to perform an abortion following their break-up.
A spurned Chagwiza who is a fitter and turner with one of the country’s leading beverage producers and who is apparently opposed to abortion decided to shame his ex-lover Patience Svodai Rungani as punishment for red-carding him.
This was after she had discovered that he was married.
Chagwiza made the heartbreaking revelations of Rungani’s planned deeds at the Bulawayo Civil Court where the latter was seeking a protection order against him.
This was after she requested that he should be barred from coming to her place for “sleep-overs” claiming Chagwiza’s wife was constantly harassing and threatening her.
“I was in a relationship with Benjamin Chagwiza. When we fell in love he lied to me that he was not married. I discovered it when his wife started harassing me. When that happened I told him that it was over between the two of us but he is refusing to accept that our relationship has broken up.
“He comes to my house without my consent claiming I am carrying his baby as I am pregnant and he is saying he’s in charge of the house where I am currently staying. By doing this he is emotionally abusing me,” complained Rungani.
She insisted that she no longer had peace because of the threats she was receiving from Chagwiza’s wife.
She added: “He is always demanding to come to my place for sleep-overs. After those sleep-overs his wife then calls me and threatens me. At one time she came to where I am attached thereby putting my job at risk.
“I am now staying in Cowdray Park after being chased away from home because of the drama his wife created while harassing me. I want the court to stop him together with his wife from stalking and harassing me.”
Chagwiza who is apparently failing to come to terms with Rungani’s decision to dump him pleaded with the court to grant him an opportunity saying he wanted to meet Rungani’s aunt and deliberate on the way forward since she was now carrying his seed.
“When I met her I was on separation with my wife, who is now bothering me for a reunion. She (Rungani) is pregnant with my baby and she is threatening to terminate the pregnancy and that is why she wants the protection order so that I won’t bother or ask her about it.
“Her relatives don’t know that she is pregnant and she wants to terminate the pregnancy. Because of that I want the court to grant me an opportunity to go and talk to them about the pregnancy issue so that she won’t terminate it. I actually want to marry her since she is carrying my baby,” said an inconsolable Chagwiza.
Magistrate Sithembile Ncube, however, ordered him not to be violent towards his ex-lover by harassing, threatening her and going to her place without her consent.
The ruling was also made after Rungani insisted that she was no longer interested in the relationship.
