AFTER seven years out of the cage, Zimbabwean heavyweight fighter, Elvis “Bomber” Moyo, is stepping back into the hexagon tomorrow—and he’s promising fireworks.
The veteran boxer and mixed martial arts (MMA) brawler, is set to face Antony Morel in a high-stakes title clash at Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) 122, in South Africa.
Moyo, brimming with confidence despite past setbacks, believes this bout marks not just a comeback, but the beginning of a new era.
“Fully 100% reloaded. Super excited. I am looking forward to coming back with a big bang. I am going for a big win. Zimbabwe must expect the first heavyweight champion. We are going to win against all odds,” said Moyo.
The showdown follows a string of frustrations for the Bulawayo-born fighter, including the cancellation of his much-anticipated bare-knuckle fight against Matunga Djikisa last October.
Now, after injuries and multiple delays, Moyo says he is physically and mentally ready to seize the moment.
“These past few years have tested me in ways I never thought possible. From cancelled fights to injuries, there were moments I doubted if this day would ever come. But I kept pushing, kept training and stayed focused,” he said.
“This fight means more to me than just the title. It’s about proving to the world and myself that I can still achieve everything I’ve set out to do, no matter the hurdles.”
Despite respecting his opponent, Moyo made it clear he’s not entering the hex just to compete —he’s coming for the crown.
“Every setback was simply a setup for something greater. I have respect for Antony Morel as a champion, but I’m coming for that belt. It’s not just about me — it’s about inspiring the next generation of fighters in Zimbabwe. I want them to see that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, you can achieve greatness if you stay disciplined and focused.”
All eyes will be on EFC 122 as Moyo steps in with one goal: to become Zimbabwe’s first heavyweight champion in the promotion’s history. — @innocentskizoe
