AT least 351 learners at Sanya Primary School in Muzarabani have been thrown an educational lifeline after Delta Corporation handed over two new classroom blocks and toilets to the community.

The school previously had pole and dagga structures.

Delta Corporation, led by its Operations Director Tichafa Rinomhota, handed over the two blocks of four classrooms and ablution facilities for both boys and girls worth US$60,000 for use starting next month.

Sanya Primary School head, Kudzanayi Manyandure, said the two new classroom blocks represented a huge leap forward for the school.

“This is a great milestone for our learners and the community, we thank Delta Corporation for their generous donation which will improve the learning environment for our learners.

“The infrastructure will also work towards our aim to have the school become an examination centre for our Grade Seven class which previously had travel and camp at nearby schools, which are eight to 10 kms away.

“Most of the parents would not afford the camping fees, school fees and food allowances hence some will eventually drop out and contribute to a zero to nine percentage pass rate.”

Delta Corporation operations director, Tichafa Rinomhota, said the company remains committed to supporting development in areas that shape future generations.

“Delta Corporation is committed to uplifting the communities we serve and education remains one of the most meaningful ways to build long-term impact.

“It is one of the most powerful pathways out of poverty.

“When children access safe classrooms, clean ablution facilities, and a conducive learning environment, their potential expands, their confidence grows, their performance improves, and their dreams expand.

“For us, supporting Sanya Primary School is contributing directly to the future of this nation.”

Rinomhota has also pledged that Delta Corporation will donate a borehole and solar equipment at the school.

“Most importantly, these classrooms represent hope.

“They represent a future Zimbabwe built by confident, educated children who will one day take up leadership roles across all sectors.

“In addition, Delta will drill a borehole and donate solar equipment at Sanya Primary School,” he said.

In his speech, Primary and Secondary Education permanent secretary, Moses Mhike, invited more companies to get into partnerships with the government to build more schools.

“Delta Corporation is commended for providing the building materials and the Sanya community, too, for taking it upon themselves to provide the locally available building materials and labour that has made the project a huge success, hence the celebration today.

“These new classroom blocks will help raise attendance, promote retention and participation and improve learning outcomes and support the Ministry’s goal of providing an equitable, quality, relevant and transformative 21st Century education to its pupils.”
