Access to primary healthcare is set to improve in Buhera after the Rural District Council resolved to complete all unfinished health facilities. Buhera RDC chief executive Ms Emily Chibvongodze said council had resolved to fund various projects that were not completed over the years.
Ms Chibvongodze said some of the projects were started as far back as 2002 and were yet to be completed.
“There are a number of projects that are unfinished and as council we have resolved to complete them,” she said.
“We have since started construction of Mundire Clinic, where council is also building three staff houses. Council is using funds from its own coffers. Our expectations are that the clinic starts serving the community by mid-year.” Ms Chibvongodze said once the clinic was complete, it was expected to serve a community of more than 10 000 people. She said council was expecting to construct another clinic at Chipandamudzi, St Moses Clinic at Garawaziwa and Nyariwe Clinic in Buhera Central.
“Nyariwe was handed over to council by a politician who failed to complete it after starting the project in 2002. Murowe Clinic was also handed over to council for completion after those who started the project faced financial challenges,” she said. Ms Chibvongodze said her council was planning to work on Masasa Clinic. She said as a local authority, they were planning to revamp the Chiweshe Water Pilot system, which was vandalised over the years.
“We are partnering a non-governmental organisation in rejuvenating the system, which was vandalised, The water system will go a long way in improving water supply at Murambinda Growth Point and surrounding areas” said Ms Chibvongodze.
