Boost for Ernest Kadungure project

Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere handed over the sows at the Ernest Kadungure Project in Chikomba district, Mashonaland East.
The project was pioneered by the late legislator Cde Ernest Kadungure to support the youths and assist in the development of the community.

Government, however, took over the project to ensure that youth and the Chikomba community received the support they needed.
The facility has a capacity of over 100 sow units and a total of over 600 pigs on the project site.

Minister Kasukuwere said: “The project is part and parcel of our national objective as Government that our youths are empowered.”
He said youths should be good managers, proactive, passionate and hard working to realise good results from projects.

“As the youths of Zimbabwe, you have no choice but to be involved, participate and carry the country’s economy on your shoulders as we move forward,” he said.
The Ernest Kadungure Piggery Project is also being used to train and capacitate youths on livestock production. Beneficiaries were selected after finishing formal training and set up the necessary infrastructure that were cleared by the veterinary services.

The project is expected to expand during the year while 100 youths would benefit from the initiative.
