Boost for regional artists

H-Metro Reporter

REGIONAL talent scout and promoter, Jungle, has lined up music shows later this month to boost networks ahead of the new year.

The first event was held on December 9 and the other two will be held on December 31 and January 1 in the capital.

In a statement, Jungle programmes coordinator, Don Chrxn, said they have chosen Harare to celebrate, network and debate the future of African Popular Music, through three-themed events over the new year weekend.

“Globally, the music industry has experienced a tremendous amount of change over the last 20 years.

“Particularly in the last decade, some African genres have reached the largest audiences, recognition and accolades.

“Audiences and musicians have been swift in harnessing the seemingly infinite power of the internet in presenting arts and culture on the global stage.

“This ensures that they perfect a new, legitimate and reliable revenue stream,” he said.

He said businesses and investors, the world over, have recently shown a keen interest in African music.
