Border Strikers, Tongogara in top of the table encounter

Midlands Correspondent
A BLOOD and thunder encounter is in the offing at Dulibadzimu Stadium tomorrow as runaway log leaders, Border Strikers entertain third placed Tongogara who are still in the running for the region’s sole promotional ticket in a Zifa Central Soccer League fixture. Tongogara who have amassed 37 points could reduce the gap between them and the log leaders to six points if the Zifa disciplinary committee awards them the game against Shabanie Mine which was abandoned at Maglas Stadium due to crowd trouble.

The Battlefields based side who beat Border Strikers 1-0 in the reverse fixture would fancy their chances of reducing the gap between them and the “Vavheneki” to three points and keep their hopes of returning to the topflight league after more than a decade in the football wilderness alive  Ignatius Kapitapita, Tongogara coach said they were confident of becoming the first team to come out of the border town with maximum points.

“We’re ready for the big match and we know what awaits us there. The race for the championship is still on,we can’t afford to falter,” he said. Border Strikers coach Never Malunga is also wary of the army side and expressed caution ahead of the clash. “Tongogara is a good side and their position on the log is clear testimony.

“We’re ready for them but we need to be cautious since the stakes are high in this game,” he said. A win for Border Strikers will extend their lead on the log standings in the process extinguish any hopes that Tongogara might have about returning to the premiership.
