FULL sisters, Lily Blue and Obscure, will come face to face in this afternoon’s Borrowdale Park and Racecourse last race meeting of the year – the 1600m HealthPoint Champion Fillies Stakes.
The pair have met before with Obscure coming out tops and it remains to be seen who will dominate today’s race which is the last before the racing season takes a festive season break.
Lily Blue and Obscure have performed well in the colours of the Gin’ll Fix It Syndicate where they are under the 2022 champion trainer, Bridget Stidolph.
Owned by Stidolph, Lilly Blue comes into today’s race with 12 wins from 1 000m to 2 400m and will have Mathew Thackeray on the irons.
Obscure, who will have Jack Perry as the pilot, comes in with six wins and will have competition from seven other runners.
It is an impressive bunch, but crowd-pleasers Lily Blue and True Beauty will be giving away many kgs to the likes of Masaaken, Obscure and Tigers Eagle, as well as others who could be sneaky.
True Beauty, who was voted 2022 Horse of the Year last week, will come in the race under the Thomas Mason yard and will have Fherholdt on the irons.
