A BORROWDALE man was on Monday arrested for raping his married maid.
Panashe Madzimure, 38, of Warwick Road, visited his married maid, aged 19, at her house.
He begged her husband to allow her to accompany him to his house to look after the children claiming his wife had abandoned them.
Upon arrival at his house, Panashe allegedly knelt, apologising to the maid that he had lied to her husband about his wife abandoning them.
Panashe asked to have sex with the maid and offered to give her US$30, or more, if she agreed.
The maid turned down the offer and a scuffle ensued and Panashe overpowered her and raped her once without protection.
She called and advised her husband of what had happened.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest saying the suspect is expected to appear in court today.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving an employer and his maid in Borrowdale,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The complainant is employed by the accused person as a maid.
“The accused person went to the complainant’s residence and asked the complainant’s husband if he could allow his wife to accompany him to his house so that she could take care of his children who were abandoned by their mother.
“She was raped and she called her husband and informed him about the act,” said Insp Chakanza.
