RESIDENTS of Borrowdale West, where a businessman shot himself dead yesterday, said they never heard the sound of a gunshot.
Many residents came from their houses to catch a glimpse of the body of the businessman, Amos “Chidhedhedhe” Kagona, which was lying along Duicker Crescent.
The body was lying, in a pool of blood, outside the gate of businessman Felix Munyaradzi’s house.
A document with his Ashdown Park address, names and phone numbers of Amos’ relatives were found next to his body.
There was also a gun.
A gardener at Munyaradzi’s house was the first to see Amos’ body and he informed a security guard manning the premises, who was inside the yard.
Residents rushed to the scene and motorists parked their vehicles to also check what was happening.
“We never heard any gunshots, only to hear that a body was lying by the road.
“This is shocking and we learnt from the relatives that Amos had a case with Munyaradzi and that is why he decided to take his life by his gate.
“This is so worrisome, he travelled from Ashdown Park to take his life in Borrowdale,” said one of the residents.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident saying investigations were in progress.
“Police are investigating a suspected suicide by shooting in Borrowdale.
“More information will be released in due course,” said Insp Chakanza.
