Boss in court for indecent assault

assaulting his subordinate.
Lester Muradzi (45) based at Makombe Complex in Harare appeared before magistrate Ms Fadzai Mutavai on Monday.

However, Muradzi pleaded not guilty to indecent assault charges. Ms Mutavai remanded him to July 14 on US$100 bail. As part of his bail conditions, Muradzi was ordered to continue residing at the given address and not to interfere with witnesses.

Prosecutor Mr Auxillia Mangwaira said charges against Muradzi arose between December 2009 and June this year. Muradzi and the woman (name supplied) are both employees of the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement. The woman is subordinate to Muradzi. It is alleged that sometime in December in 2009, Muradzi approached the woman in her office.

He allegedly proposed love to the woman, an offer the woman spurned.
It is alleged that since that incident, Muradzi would call the woman into his office and fondle her. It is the State’s case that on another day, Muradzi again called the woman and fondled her and tried to undress her telling her that he wanted to be intimate with her.

Muradzi’s actions prompted the woman to tell another worker about her ordeal.
The woman reported the case leading to Muradzi’s arrest.
