HIGHLANDERS fans would not be starved of action today, while the senior team enjoys a break due to the Fifa international window as all eyes turn to Bosso90, the club’s developmental side, who face off against Imbizo in a Zifa Southern RegionDivision One League Week Nine clash at White City Stadium.

Kick-off is at 3pm.

The 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is currently on pause to accommodate the international break, which saw the Zimbabwe Warriors take on Burkina Faso in a friendly match last Friday in Morocco. The Warriors lost that encounter 2-0.

Up next for Zimbabwe is a fixture against Niger on Tuesday.

PSL action is expected to resume on 13 June.

In another Zifa Southern Region Division One fixture also scheduled for this afternoon at White City Stadium, ex-Premier Soccer League side Bulawayo City will host Plumtree based Mainline FC. That match kicks off at 12 noon and will curtain raise the Bosso90 versus Imbizo showdown. Fans usually fork our US$1 for Division One matches.

In Hwange, celebrations are in full swing after coach Rodwell Dhlakama and his player, veteran goalkeeper Peter Mushure were named Zifa Southern Region Division One Coach and Player of the Month for May, respectively.

Chipangano, as Hwange are affectionately known and under the tutelage of Dhlakama, have hit top form as they aim for a quick return to the country’s top flight league, following their relegation alongside an equally impressive Bulawayo Chiefs.

The monthly awards are sponsored by Herentals Group of Colleges and Machache Security.

In another major development off the pitch, the Zifa Southern Region Division One League secured a US$10  000 sponsorship from Herentals Group of Colleges, a timely boost to the 2025 campaign.

Unveiled last month at the league’s offices, the deal will also fund the end of season awards, ensuring recognition for excellence and increased competitiveness across the division.

Machache Security Services also came on board with a US$2 500 package to bankroll the monthly Goalkeeper and Player of the Month awards, while also assisting with administrative costs.

“It’s always good to see coaches’ and players’ efforts being recognised. I believe these awards will go a long way in motivating everyone to consistently perform at a high level, which in turn boosts the league’s overall competitiveness,” said Zifa Southern

Region Division One spokesperson Blessing Mbandwa.

“We’re grateful to both sponsors and we will not tire in seeking more support from individuals and the corporate sector.”

Last season, the league, dominated by ZPC Hwange, concluded without any sponsorship. Despite their remarkable run, ZPC

Hwange were unable to secure promotion, as MWOS, who finished third in the Zifa Northern Region took over their franchise. — @FungaiMuderere
