FORMER Zambian premiership side Zesco United left – back Zimiseleni Moyo is training with Highlanders FC as he takes another shot at joining the club he turned down last year. Moyo helped Zesco win the Zambian Premier League title in 2015, before he decided to end his fl irtation with Zambian soccer in the same year. He has been eyeing a move to other countries in the Southern African region which fell through last year,and has been on the sidelines since then.
Two weeks ago Highlanders coach, Erol Akbay, revealed his side was in search of a left -footed player who was likely to be the only notable signing during the midseason window. Highlanders’ goalkeepers coach and technical manager, Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu confi rmed Moyo was training with them and they were still assessing him. He said they had referred several players who were training with them to their Division One side as they were unlikely to bring them on board during this transfer window.
Zulu however indicated they were hard-pressed for time to eff ectively assess those training with them because of the tight Castle Lager Premier Soccer League schedule this week, adding they would be able to look at those hoping to join the team in July.
Highlanders were scheduled to face Triangle United on Sunday but the match was called off due to security concerns and they head to Mutare on Th ursday to play against Mutare City. Bosso will then play host to Caps United three days aft er the Mutare City encounter.
Moyo impressed then Bosso coach, Bongani Mafu, who wanted to enlist his services but the player opted to move to either Mozambique or Angola but failed. Meanwhile, former Highlanders right back, Webster
Chingodza says his heart is still with the club and wants to extend his stay aft er his contract ran out at the end of June. Chingodza had been out of action since last year due to injury and was not registered at the beginning of the year.The player said he is waiting to hear from Highlanders on whether his contract will be renewed or not but said his heart was still with the black and white army.
