HIGHLANDERS has already activated the search for a new chief executive officer after Ronald Moyo decided against extending his stay as Bosso’s head of secretariat.
The club yesterday announced Moyo will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of March.
According to the club, Moyo opted against extending his contract.
“The Highlanders Football Club’s Executive Committee takes this opportunity to convey to its members, supporters and all stakeholders that the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Ronald Roland Moyo has elected not to renew his contract at its expiration due on the 31st of March 2024,” said Bosso in a statement.
Club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe said the club should be flying an advert for the vacant post in the next few days.
“Firstly, we would like to thank Moyo for all his contributions to this great club. He served the club well and we would like to thank him for a job well done. We now have the task of searching for a replacement and we have started the process. We will be advising our members and the public on the steps forward,” said Mhlophe.
Initially appointed as the club’s media officer, Moyo took over the chief executive’s job from Nhlanhla Dube who left in December 2021.
Aged 30, Moyo became the youngest chief executive officer to lead a big football club in the country.
Moyo is also a former Bantu Rovers media officer.
Moyo’s duties at the club included implementing decisions of the executive committee, making sure that the club’s offices were adequately equipped and manned by appropriately skilled personnel.
He also had the duty to transform the club into a sustainable business that could survive in the absence of sponsorship and generate revenue.
Moyo leaves at a time when the club has just secured a deal with BetterBrands in which with vice chairman Fiso Siziba and legal mind Vulindlela Sibanda represented Bosso in the negotiations.
Under the deal, all the team’s expenses will be borne by the company and in a historic feat, junior development and Highlanders Royals’ (women’s team) will be paid by the company that is keen to have a nationwide footprint as it seeks to assist youths live better lives.
