Bosso board members face expulsion

A third board member could soon leave as his continued service raises an ethical dilemma for both himself and the club. Nicholas Mathonsi is now a High Court judge and has since moved to Harare and this could also make his availability for meetings difficult.
Sources told Chronicle Sport that board member Davies Sibanda, voted onto the board in 2010, had been missing meetings.

“Sibanda, a human resources practitioner, got a job in Zambia while (Mgcini) Nkolomi has not been attending meetings. Mathonsi was recently transferred to the capital, it is inevitable that he will step down soon,” said a source.
If Nkolomi and Mathonsi leave the board, it would mean all the three board members appointed in 2009 would have left the board after Elkanah Dube stepped down in December 2010 citing pressing work commitments.

Contacted for comment, Highlanders board of directors secretary and spokesman Jimmy Ncube confirmed that some of his colleagues have been absconding meetings but denied that expulsions were imminent.
“The constitution is silent on what action should be taken on members who continuously miss meetings. However, it is up to members to be bold enough and throw in the towel if they feel they cannot cope any more,” said Ncube.

He said Sibanda and Nkolomi have been giving excuses which the board acknowledged.
“For your own information, Sibanda has been based in Zambia for a while and he excused himself but he is now back in the country and has in fact been coming to our meetings.

“Nkolomi last attended our meeting in October, not July as suggested, and he has been sending text messages excusing himself. Mathonsi officially told us last year that he will be transferring to Harare and knowing him, he is a principled man, if he sees that the transfer will hinder his commitment to the board, he will most certainly step down,” said Ncube.

Sibanda was appointed to the board in 2010 with Cosmas Sikhosana and veteran broadcaster Luke Mnkandla.
