HIGHLANDERS faithfuls have embarked on an initiative of raising money for their clubas players via Eco Cash as they seek to maintain high spirits in the black and white camp. The development which started days before the teamas blockbuster tie against Dynamos has even seen South Africa-based Highlanders enthusiasts contributing their hard earned cash.

The initiative which was developed from a WhatsApp platform named Bosso Fan Page has since spilled to another WhatsApp group known as IBOSSO YETHU. A large number of members from both groups have made their contributions.

a?We have been getting a positive response since day one. We realised the club does not raise much from gate takings and, as such as supporters we thought of raising money for our 30 players,a? said Mkhokheli a?FBIa? Mlauzi, one of the many Bosso fans who are behind the plan.

a?Everyone in Zimbabwe who has the team at heart should make his or her contribution to my number 0772242447 while those in South Africa can contact one of our members Anele Mpala on the number 0837688500. We will screen shot receipt of the money and post in our groups before we hand over the money to the players,a? said Mlauzi.

Mpala is the man behind the popular Facebook character Selibona Nya that has over 10 000 followers.

Mlauzi said while they were yet to consult the players through their captain Felix Chindungwe, Erol Akbayas boys would have to decide whether they would need the money in hard cash or prefer a party to be held for them from the raised funds just before the end of the season.

a?We need to thank the boys for the wonderful season that saw us break our Dynamos 10-year jinx. It is also all about motivating them. We believe as supporters we have a role to play in the success of the team,a? added Mlauzi.

Bosso players are owed winning bonuses and the club has struggled to keep afloat in the face of a mounting debt.

The Bosso debt stands at $765 060, 36 as of 31 July 2016. Trade creditors are owed $23 500.
