HIGHLANDERS fans will have to wait a bit longer to witness their team hosting their biggest rivals Dynamos in a Castle Lager Premiership this year.

Their Battle of Zimbabwe showdown, which was set for Saturday at Barbourfields, has been postponed because of the two giants’ involvement in the Independence Cup final.

They will battle in Mt Darwin on Tuesday.

Analysts had predicted that the league match would break attendance figures at Barbourfields.

A statement released by the PSL read:

“Please be advised that The Castle Lager Premiership Soccer League between Highlanders FC and Dynamos scheduled to be played on Saturday 15 April 2023 has been postponed.

“This comes following a directive from the Sports and Recreation Commission for the teams to participate in the Independence Day activities which will commence on the 16th of April.

“The postponed fixture will be rescheduled in due course.”

The two teams planned to play each other in a high-profile friendly match during the pre-season but the match was called off due to a number of factors.

Bosso and DeMbare are the country’s biggest and most successful football clubs.

They are both bankrolled by energy giants Sakunda Holdings whose hige investment has turned into competitive teams again.

They are both tied on eight points, after four games, and are separated by goal difference.
