Bosso hold midfielder without registration

HIGHLANDERS holding midfielder, Darlington Mukuli has not been registered for the first half of this season, after he incurred a knee injury.

He suffered a knock in the early stages of pre-season preparations and is expected to be out for at least half of the season.

Bosso communications officer, Nozibelo Maphosa, said Mukuli remains part of the Highlanders team but was not included in their initial squad for the season.

“Mukuli remains a Highlanders player. He has not been registered because he suffered an injury.

“We are hopeful that his recovery will be quick and we may have him for the second half of the season as he is one our key players from our development structures,” said Maphosa.

The holding midfielder has been hit by a spat of injuries since last season. He missed a great part of the first half of the year with an ankle injury.

In his absence, Highlanders do have options in the likes of Mason Mushore, Gillian Nyathi, Melikhaya Ncube and new acquisition Marvin Sibanda.

Already, Mushore and Ncube seem to have forged a formidable central midfield, pairing with the industrious Reason Sibanda playing in front of them.

McKinnon Mushore has been shifted to the left wing and did not disappoint on Sunday against Dynamos as he put in a good shift.

Bosso have somewhat been conservative in the transfer market as they opted to promote players from their developmental side Bosso 90 and also brought in midfielder Marvin Sibanda, striker Reason Sibanda, midfielder Brian Ndlovu, defender Brian Mlotshwa and striker Brighton Ncube, who was deemed surplus to requirements at Chicken Inn.

From their developmental side, Bosso elevated Mvelo Khoza and Akim Nkomo.

The club has also extended the contracts of Mukuli, Nyathi, Talent Dube, Prince Ndlovu and the Mushore brothers, McKinnon and Mason.

Highlanders has also appointed a new technical team, to be led by Kelvin Kaindu, with Ncube and Agent Sawu coming in as his assistants.

Bosso got their season off to the perfect start at the weekend, as they beat Dynamos 2-1 at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Their next assignment is against Bulawayo Chiefs at the same venue this coming Sunday.-@innocentskizoe
