Highlanders Football Club legend, Peter Ndlovu has joined the growing list of football personalities paying tribute to the club’s late executive members and a devoted supporter who died in a tragic road traffic accident on Thursday.
Ndlovu, one of Highlanders’ greatest players and Zimbabwe’s most celebrated football exports, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Bosso family, describing the deaths as a great loss.
In a brief but emotional message shared on social media, Ndlovu expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and the entire Highlanders community.
“Condolences to the Bosso family. Wishing family and friends healing and strength! It is a great loss. May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” said Ndlovu.
The tragic accident claimed the lives of Highlanders chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Fiso Siziba, committee member responsible for finance Nkani Khoza and devoted supporter Mbalenhle Sibanda as they returned from the club’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against ZPC Kariba in Karibai.
The deaths have sent shockwaves across the country, with President Mnangagwa leading the nation in mourning the quartet. Messages of condolence have also poured in from Government officials, football clubs, administrators, former players, supporters and the wider sporting fraternity.
Funeral arrangements are underway, with the Government having accorded the departed leaders and supporter assistance in recognition of their contribution to Zimbabwean football.
Ndlovu’s tribute adds to the overwhelming outpouring of grief from former Bosso players and football stakeholders, reflecting the profound impact the deceased had on Highlanders Football Club and the country’s football community.
