Bosso nomination closes today

Candidates eyeing the above seats have up to 12 noon today to submit their nomination forms.
Jimmy Ncube, the board secretary, said candidates would be allowed to attend Monday’s verification process.
He could not be drawn into revealing which bona-fide members had picked up nomination papers.

“The closing date for submission of all nomination forms is on tomorrow (today) at 12 noon. Members have been collecting forms but I am not at liberty to say who has done so. I will be better positioned to come up with the names of aspiring candidates tomorrow afternoon.
“The electoral court will then sit on Monday morning and we are going to invite candidates and their representatives to come for the process,” said Ncube.

Any aspiring candidates have to be nominated by one club member and also have their form signed by 10 supporting members.
All these people should be bona-fide Highlanders members.
Former club secretary Peter Dube and city businessman Mandla Moyo are challenging incumbent Themba Ndlela for the chairman’s position.

Moyo, who lost to Ndlela in the 2009 elections, picked up his nomination papers on Thursday while Dube did the same on Wednesday.
Three candidates — Andrew Tapela, Emmett Ndlovu and Jerry Sibanda are vying for the secretary’s position while incumbent Wisdom Mabhena, Charles “Six-One” Moyo, Dingani Sibanda and Dumisani Mabhena are targeting the committee member’s seat.

On Thursday, educationist Njabulo Bango got nomination papers for the committee member’s position making it the most contested.
The chairman of Highlanders will be expected to lead the executive and come up with strategies to curb the ever-escalating debts.

In the last annual general meeting it was announced that the club had debts amounting close to $400 000.
The Highlanders members meet next week on Sunday for their annual general meeting and all the candidates who will have met the requirements will be presented to the members.
