HIGHLANDERS have opened the nomination process for the election of an executive vice-chairman and treasurer, with Saturday January 23 being set as the closing date for submission of the nomination forms.
The elections will be held a week after the club’s annual meeting, which some members have over the years dubbed a mere talk show as most resolutions passed are hardly implemented.
They said it was common for members to argue on a motion until the moderator decides to move to the next point on the agenda without consensus on the previous one.
However, hopes are high that the forthcoming annual meeting will be fruitful. Focus though is on the elections, which will be held a week after the meeting.
Harare-based Mgcini Sibhalo Mpofu is the incumbent executive vice-chairman while Bulawayo businessman Donald Ndebele holds the treasurer’s post, having been co-opted last year following the resignation of Jerry Sibanda.
