HIGHLANDERS Football Club is in crisis mode after secretary general Morgan Dube admitted the club is now running without a strategic plan because of lack of funds.
“We are currently operating without a plan,” confessed Dube, drawing gasps from restless members at the explosive Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
Life member Ntokozo Tshuma was brutally honest: “The club is planning to fail in a clumsy way.”
The stormy indaba, attended by Bosso big names like Allen “Rippa” Mpofu, Omega Sibanda, Modern Ngwenya, Ntokozo Tshuma, Andrew Tapela, Lovemore Fuyana, Odiel Nkomo and Siphatho Ncube, exposed deep cracks at the Bulawayo giants.
Tempers flared as life member Pilate Mahlangu tabled a dramatic Vote of No Confidence motion against chairman Kenneth Mhlophe and his executive, accusing them of presiding over chaos and incompetence.
Mahlangu tore into the leadership citing leaking of confidential documents, dodgy player transfers, governance failures, fraud scandals and a disastrous run of results.
Although insiders whispered that the motion may not pass, the writing is on the wall. Fans are restless, members are demanding accountability, and executive shake-up rumours are growing louder.
The unrest comes as Bosso face TelOne in a crucial Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Week 25 tie at Barbourfields. Interim coach Try Ncube admitted his underperforming squad, stuck on 29 points from 24 games, are up against a well-drilled side led by former Dynamos coach Herbert Maruwa.
With Bosso’s house on fire both on and off the pitch, the EGM fireworks may just be the beginning.
