Bosso owe Kaindu US$11 000

HIGHLANDERS treasurer Nkani Khoza has revealed that the club still owes their former head coach, Kelvin Kaindu, US$11 000.

Khoza made the admission during Sunday’s extraordinary general meeting, at which 138 paid up members gathered amid tensions over alleged financial irregularities and poor team performance.

“We owe our former coach Kelvin Kaindu US$11 000. There are a lot of debts in the team,” said Khoza as he presented his report.

Kaindu, who is now steering Dynamos out of relegation trouble, has already lifted the Glamour Boys five points clear of the drop zone with 10 matches left.

His firing by Bosso earlier in the season remains a sore point for some members.

Former Bosso vice chairman Modern Ngwenya openly questioned the decision to part ways with the Zambian mentor.

“Our team started very well this season under Kelvin Kaindu. I am a firm believer in his philosophy. He is one of the best coaches who still had a mathematical chance of winning the league before he was relieved of his duties.

“What I don’t know is the target that we had for the coach,” said Ngwenya.

After Kaindu’s departure, Highlanders were under the temporary guidance of Try Ncube until  Dutchman Hendrik Pieter de Jongh took over on Monday.

Bosso face Bikita Minerals this Sunday as they try to steady their season.

Elsewhere, Chicken Inn visit TelOne at Ascot Stadium, while Yadah Stars host Ngezi Platinum at Heart Stadium. Simba Bhora meet Kwekwe United at Wadzanayi, and Dynamos take on GreenFuel at Rufaro. Former champions FC Platinum clash with CAPS United at Mandava.

Meanwhile, six players will miss this weekend’s action through suspension after picking up three yellow cards. Obriel Chirinda (Ngezi Platinum), Innocent Mucheneka and Tymon Mvula (Yadah Stars), Ask Rupande (Manica Diamonds), and Simbarashe Musutukwa (Kwekwe United) are all sidelined.
